In our article on the Photography Kit, we looked at the complete scope of camera accessories. We recently put these to the test with the Vivo X200 Ultra, including the Zeiss teleconverter, and shot a few photos outside. Our test sample was provided by Trading Shenzhen.
With the Zeiss teleconverter, the focal length can be increased to 200 mm, which corresponds to 8.7x optical zoom. For comparison, the smartphone itself comes with a lossless zoom range of 85 mm. A 400 mm, 800 mm, and 1,600 mm preset is also available in the special mode of the camera app.
Camera accessories take the Android phone to a new level
The photos are very good for a smartphone, especially at high zoom levels. While some blurriness is noticeable in the images, this is likely due to the camera software. The Zeiss teleconverter appears to be of high quality overall and performs well with solid image quality. There is no noticeable distortion, and we like the sharpness of the photos. The subjects also have a beautiful bokeh.
Compared to the Vivo X200 Ultra without the accessories, the added quality of the Zeiss teleconverter is evident. More details and less sharpening speak in favor of the extra Zeiss optics. However, even without the focal length extension, the Vivo flagship cuts a fine figure with its periscope camera (up to 800 mm).
We used the factory settings in the camera software for all photos. To better recognize image details, all image files are included with the corresponding photos. Click on the respective photos to view them in full resolution.
