The first Google Pixel smartphone was released in October 2016, and every year since then, Google has announced new models. This means this year's Pixel 10 smartphones will be the 10th in the series even though the Pixel's 10th anniversary is still next year. If you were expecting a monumental change such as a brand new design, that won't be the case. Images based on CAD renders have revealed the Pixel 10 will have the same design as last year's Pixel 9.
The renders which were revealed by OnLeaks and Android Headlines show the Pixel 10 will have the same look as its predecessor. The display will not only be flat but also remain 6.3 inches in size with a centered punch hole. Even the dimensions are almost identical — 152.8 x 72 x 8.6 mm for the Pixel 10 and 152.8 x 72 x 8.5 mm for the Pixel 9 (curr. available on Amazon for $649). The camera module, which still protrudes unlike that of the Pixel 9a, adds an additional 3.4 mm to the thickness.
Speaking of cameras, Google has given fans a reason to be excited this year. Unlike previous generations where the standard model had one less camera than the pro model, the Pixel 10 will be getting the same number of rear cameras as the Pixel 10 Pro, and that extra camera has a telephoto lens.
Of course, we expect there will be differences in the camera configuration to justify the extra hundreds of dollars the Pixel 10 Pro will cost. Nevertheless, it is exciting to see the base Pixel get a telephoto camera. This should also further differentiate the base Pixel phone from the Pixel A series.
The renders also show the Pixel 10 will have a flat frame and the same button placement as its predecessors. There's no info about color options, although the renders show the phone in the same Peony color as the Pixel 9. More details should surface as the launch date — which is speculated to be in August — draws closer.
