Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra: Weird camera designs and higher prices tipped
Traditionally, the most exciting time for Galaxy S leaks begins right after the launch of Samsung’s new foldables. The Koreans are now increasingly focusing on finalizing their next camera flagships, which are set to hit the market in early 2027 and will replace Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra.
It remains to be seen how reliable the earlier leaks and rumors were, but we’re not quite there yet. The final designs and specs aren’t known yet, Samsung is still evaluating them. After Ice Universe predicted months ago that Samsung would ditch the 3x telephoto on the Galaxy S27 Ultra, this theory was recently called into question again, partly based on what is actually quite solid evidence.
Because earlier hints about a new horizontal camera design haven’t been confirmed so far, we’re currently seeing an increasing number of concept designs featuring all kinds of camera modules. Both on Techdroider’s YouTube channel and amongst various X users like @thegalox_, wide camera bars seem to be especially popular although there is no evidence pointing to such a drastic design change at the moment. Incidentally, Ice Universe continues to insist that a quad-camera setup will be a thing of the past.
Higher prices in South Korea expected
Meanwhile, price increases are expected from every smartphone manufacturer these days, which is hardly surprising given the current component crisis. Samsung will likely not be able to avoid raising prices for the Galaxy S27 Ultra either. According to @kro_roe, launch prices in South Korea are expected to be up to 150,000 won (90 euros, US$105) higher which would actually be quite moderate, given that similar price increases are already anticipated for the Galaxy S26 FE in Europe. We might also fail to see expected features like UFS 5.0 and LPDDR6.
