Latest Samsung Galaxy S27 series details: Further display and chip upgrades at higher prices expected

People with sensitive eyes appreciate smartphone displays with DC dimming or at least very high PWM frequencies. Samsung smartphones, however, do not fall into that category. While some Chinese flagships offer PWM frequencies of several thousand hertz, even the current Galaxy S26 Ultra manages to dim the display at just 240 Hz according to our review — far too low to avoid being perceived as flicker by sensitive users. DC dimming is the ideal solution anyway, and it could finally make its way to Samsung flagships with the Galaxy S27 series, at least on the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra.
At least, that is the claim made by a relatively new leaker called @WalleGalaxy on X, who has yet to prove his reliability. According to earlier leaks, both Galaxy flagships are also expected to use a new, brighter and more efficient M16 OLED material. Meanwhile Korean blogger Landsk is well known for his Yeux1122 blog on the Korean Naver platform. A new post citing industry information now hints somewhat cryptically at the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 being the chipset for all Galaxy S27 Ultra models next year. This reportedly still has not been finalized, but is considered the most likely solution. Samsung does plan to increase its use of the Exynos 2700 by 10 percent but apparently cannot produce enough chips to also put it into every Galaxy S27 Ultra model worldwide.
Unfortunately, we are once again hearing about further price increases from sources in South Korea. Samsung has only just raised the official retail prices of many smartphones already on the market worldwide, including not only the Galaxy S26 series but also the more affordable Galaxy A family. Now, Korean industry publication Chosun reports that the manufacturer is likely planning price increases of US$75 to US$100 for the Galaxy S27 series as memory prices continue to rise.
