Galaxy Z Fold 8: Elevated demand pushes Samsung to produce 1 million more units

Samsung is ramping up manufacturing of its Galaxy Z Fold 8 as the wide-format foldable proves far more popular than anticipated. According to a report from Korean outlet ETNews, the company has ordered an extra one million units this week, building on production runs that have already outpaced previous generations of the device

The surge follows a pre-order period that shattered Samsung's own records, edging out even the long-celebrated Galaxy Note 10 series. Some configurations reportedly sold out or faced delays before orders closed. Combined figures for the Z Flip 8, Z Fold 8, and Z Fold 8 Ultra are now approaching five million reservations worldwide, a striking number given the devices' high price points. The Fold 8 now accounts for well over half of all foldable pre-orders and has already surpassed the Z Fold 7's sales numbers by roughly 30% internationally.

The surge follows an especially strong debut in South Korea, where the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Fold 8 Ultra and Flip 8 collectively generated 1.44 million preorders during their first week. Given this level of interest, the broader wide-foldable format looks set to gain traction across the Android ecosystem, particularly as Apple reportedly continues to develop its own foldable iPhone for a release later this year.
