Samsung's Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra Geekbench listing shows improved performance

A recent Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra design leak revealed a design nearly indistinguishable from the Tab S11 Ultra, right down to the display notch housing the selfie camera, a design choice Samsung is now carrying over for a second consecutive year.

There is better news on what is actually running inside the tablet, however. A new Geekbench listing has surfaced for a device carrying the model number SM-X946B, and while the listing itself does not name the phone, the number lines up closely with the Tab S11 Ultra's own SM-X936B, making it about as safe a bet as leaks get that this is the Tab S12 Ultra.

The listing's core layout, one prime core, three performance cores and four efficiency cores, rules out Qualcomm's last two generations of Snapdragon flagship chips entirely. Clock speeds of 4.21GHz on the prime core and 2.7GHz on the efficiency cores instead point to MediaTek's Dimensity 9500, the same chip that was already rumored for the tablet. Running through Geekbench's tests, that chipset posts 2,424 points in the single-core benchmark and 8,446 in multi-core, edging out the Tab S11 Ultra by a modest margin.

Memory looks unchanged for now, with the tested unit carrying 12GB of RAM, the same starting point as last year's model. A 16GB configuration is likely to join it once the tablet is official, following the pattern Samsung has used on its recent Ultra models.

As for the rest of the tablet, earlier leaks point to a familiar formula rather than a dramatic overhaul. The dimensions, 326.3 x 208.5 x 5.1mm, mirror the Tab S11 Ultra almost exactly, with a flat metal frame, dual rear cameras, thin bezels, and three metal pins on the back for connecting a keyboard case. Rumors also point to a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, an 11,600mAh battery and 45W charging carrying over largely untouched, alongside a 13MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 12MP front camera.

On the software side, the tablet is expected to ship with One UI 9 on top of Android 17, backed by Samsung's usual flagship promise of seven years of Android upgrades and seven years of security patches. If Samsung sticks to its usual release cycle, the Tab S12 Ultra should arrive around September alongside the Galaxy S26 FE.
