Short-winded. There are many affordable multimedia laptops that even manage up-to-date games in medium to high settings for around 600 Euros (~$813). Toshiba's Satellite C55-A-1D5 is no exception. However, it exhibits shortcomings in ergonomics, build and, above all, battery runtime.

Modest, fast, well-made. The XMG A503 is the newest model in Schenker Technologies' mid-range gaming series. The Ivy Bridge CPU and the GeForce GT 650M have been replaced by a combination of a Haswell CPU and a GeForce GTX 765M. Is this enough to satisfy our expectations?

Affordable and conservative. While the waves of Ultrabooks and tablets wash over the market, Toshiba’s got something just the opposite: a conventional, 17-inch desktop replacement. Just because you’ve got the latest parts doesn’t mean you have to embrace the latest trends… right?

Handy detachable. The 10.1-inch SlateBook x2 joins the 11.6-inch Envy x2 and 13.3-inch Split x2 as one of HP's key products in the detachable notebook category. It is also the least expensive model of the x2 series at a starting price of $480 and is one of the earliest tablets to sport the Tegra 4 APU. Successful Kabini update. Lenovo upgrades their little ThinkPad Edge (11.6-inches) with a Kabini APU and a considerably brighter display. Otherwise, the newbie and the predecessor model are exactly alike. Will users benefit from the upgrades? Read our review to find out.

Haswell allrounder. The Satellite L70-A-10T is another offer for those looking for a general-purpose laptop with 17.3 inch size. The customer gets a Haswell CPU, a GeForce graphics card, a big memory capacity and a full HD screen for about 900 Euro. Our review reveals whether the offer from Toshiba is recommendable.

Dark beauty. It's small. It's a premium product. And it's fast. We almost don't dare to call the new Zenbook UX301 an "ultrabook", as it attempts to be much more than that: the perfect mobile companion. With the top-notch materials, great build quality and high-end innards of its newest flagship; Asus wants to dethrone its fiercest competitor, Apple. The price point? That topic almost becomes a minor matter.

Casual business. HP considers its ProBook series to be quite affordable yet of high-quality. The business laptops that feature a straightforward configuration and decent battery runtimes are to find a place primarily in companies and on the desks of freelancers.

Xtreme CrossFireX. The large 17.3-inch size allows for some serious power under the hood for high-end DTRs. With increasing competition from the refreshed Asus ROG series and Alienware models, we check to see if Eurocom and its X7 Radeon hardware can still convince us otherwise.

Every year. It's 2013, and Electronic Arts hasn't forgotten to release a new version of their successful soccer video game. Even though the game's graphics demands are the same as ever, we tested the new FIFA 14 with a variety of notebook graphics cards. Will an entry-level model still suffice, or will players need more power this time around?

Sturdy. Panasonic presents a rugged 7-inch tablet. It can endure falls from 1.50 m (~4.9 feet) and hose water from all directions. The battery is replaceable. Can the inner components and the display convince in our tests?

Camera or phone? With an almost absurd resolution of 41 megapixels, the Lumia 1020 ridicules the entire competition. The rest of the specs, however, have remained almost unchanged when compared to the Lumia 925. Superlatives. Alienware does not make any compromises with its latest 18-inch monster. You can not only select the best mobile quad-core processors in the configurator but also the fastest high-end graphics cards. Ultra-Business. Dell has updated its Latitude series and added a number of new models. The Dell Latitude E7240 is a compact 12-inch business ultrabook, which wants to convince with professional equipment and premium features. We extensively tested how well it succeeds at this.

Touch update. Same chassis and hardware, different name. Samsung adds a touchscreen to a Chronos 7 series model and renames the notebook in the process. Like the predecessor, the ATIV Book 8 Touch still ships with a potent Core i7 processor and a dedicated Radeon GPU. How the notebook performs and compares to its competitors are the subjects of this review.

Equipped to the teeth. LG launches a new premium smartphone dubbed Optimus G Pro E986 that features impressive equipment. The smartphone's configuration, comprised of a quad-core Snapdragon 600, an LTE module, a 5.5-inch Full HD screen and 16 GB of storage, is to give the competition the shivers.

Dual SIM card tablet. The A3000 is another model in the IdeaTab series. Its distinguishing feature is the dual SIM card function -- a rare find in tablets. The device also has a quad-core SoC from Mediatek. Here’s to hoping that this chip is capable of more performance than the dual-core processor at work in the mediocre IdeaTab A1000.

Thin gamer. Imagine the MSI GE70, slightly tweak the case, use the identical hardware and you will get the GS70 Stealth. The new gaming notebook is especially interesting for mobile gaming because the manufacturer reduced both the weight and the dimensions. But was the diet successful?

Update in gray. The Toshiba Satellite C855-2J4 is a 15.6-inch entry-level notebook. Equipped with an Intel Core i5-3230M processor and AMD Radeon HD 7610M GPU, the notebook is one of the more powerful models in Toshiba's entry-level series.

Cutting-edge innovator. This smartphone wants to boost itself to the forefront of our Top 10 with awesomely swift hardware and rearranged physical buttons. The LTE phone has a good chance of accomplishing that with the Snapdragon 800 and a Full HD IPS screen. However, it must first overcome a few obstacles.

Feature diet. After our review of the Acer Aspire E1-572G with dedicated graphics card a few weeks ago, we now take a look at the E1-572 without the "G". The notebook is equipped with a matte Full-HD display, a less powerful Intel Core i3-4010U CPU, and makes use of the processor-integrated graphics card. The E1-572 competes as a business notebook.

Versatile all-rounder. A thin 14-inch case is the base for Sony's latest multimedia device that wants to attract customers with highlights like a touchscreen display, NFC support and a hybrid hard drive. Does the Vaio Fit for 900 Euros (~$1215) offer any other surprises?

Energy efficient and quiet. Asus has with the F550CA-XX078D the appropriate offer for those who cannot or simply do not want to spend a lot on a notebook, . For almost 320 Euros (~$433) the buyer gets a 15.6-inch notebook with ULV processor and 500 GB hard-drive. A Windows operating system is not included in the scope of delivery. Our review reveals if Asus has a convincing offer on its hands.

Convertible, premium-style. Hewlett-Packard presents us with a strong contender for the market segment of convertibles, a wolf in magnesium clothing. An ultrabook chassis, mobile internet and sturdiness are supposed to win over its potential customers. Our review will show whether this plan is poised to work out...

The new mid-range. No matter if entry-level or high-end smartphone - Nokia always has the right model in its Lumia series. The newest member of the family is the Lumia 625. Online retailers already sell the mid-range model for the competitive price of 250 Euros (~$334).

Aspire differently. Acer’s latest Aspire V5 model steps back from the solid state drives and supreme battery life of most Ultrabooks in exchange for a heavier focus on graphics—all at an affordable price point. But was it worth the trouble?

Think Slim! Business notebooks are usually conservative and rather bulky working devices. Lenovo’s ThinkPad S531 is one alternative that wants to eliminate this prejudice. It combines typical business features with a slim ultrabook design. We checked if the attractive specifications are convincing.

Moonlighter. Buyers expect sufficient power for typical applications, low emissions and consumption rates and user-friendly ergonomics from an office laptop in the top-selling price range of around 400 Euros (~$532). Thus, a matte screen would have looked better in Acer's Aspire E1-522 while the installed DVD burner vaguely indicates multimedia suitability.

Fun or just frustrating? Following the current trend, Creative Assembly and SEGA released their new epic strategy game before it was quite ready. Gamers are registering complaints about performance issues, texture problems and other sorts of bugs. You can find out here how well various notebook GPUs get along with Rome II.

Average. Lenovo offers with the IdeaPad S500 a new ultrabook with Core i5 processor and GeForce GPU. In addition to the touchpad and keyboard the device can be operated via touchscreen. Lenovo wants about 700 Euros (~$932) for the notebook. Find out in our test if the ultrabook is good value or if you can find a better ultrabook for this price.

Pocket-sized Samurai. Sony's latest member of the Xperia series features a relatively small screen of only 4-inches. The low-clocked dual-core processor is supported by a strong graphics unit. Is that enough to gain a foothold in the entry-level sector?

The AMD alternative? A quad-core CPU, Crossfire graphics and plenty of memory - the HP Pavilion 15 offers a lot for less than 500 Euros (~$663). But how competitive is AMD's new platform and does the inexpensive 15-inch notebook offer any surprises?

High-gloss all-rounder. The Satellite L50 wants to be a powerful all-rounder notebook for home use. With an up-to-date Core i7 and Kepler graphics, Toshiba starts off with a solid foundation. Turn the page. The Samsung Ativ Book 5 is a slim, yet sturdy 14-inch touchscreen Ultrabook based on a previous-generation Ivy Bridge processor. How does the sleek looking system with its dual-core i5 CPU and integrated graphics card stack up against the competition?

Plastic version. The Desire 500 has a 4.3-inch display, just like the HTC One Mini. However, both devices could not be more different. The durable one. Panasonic's Toughbook CF-AX2 is built for demanding professional usage scenarios and supposedly comes with an extra level of resilience against concussions and pressure. With business-friendly features, more than decent performance and great mobility, the inner values are handled well too. Quad-core for the masses. We could not help but remain unimpressed by AMD's Trinity dual-core CPUs. But what about the Kabini quad-cores? And how much of a "real laptop" can be found in Toshiba's low-cost offering? Does the mainstream device exhibit unexpected strengths?

All's well that's Haswell. The critically-acclaimed Dell XPS 12 returns with a nearly-identical form factor but an upgraded chipset and battery. With these improvements under its belt coupled with a $1,200 price tag, can it hope to hang with the best?

Turn off your brain, prepare to laugh. You do not have to play Saints Row IV for very long before you realize that it is a bunch of anarcho-baloney. Prime grade baloney, that is. Whether the game's graphics and hardware appetite are equally as appealing is a question for this article to answer.

Entry-level revisited. Lenovo releases a budget-friendly 7-inch tablet with Android OS and low-power hardware. Can the bargain-basement offering from the well-know manufacturer hold its own or have the cost-saving measures been taken too far?

Is good necessarily expensive? Our editorial office got the IdeaPad U330p for an in-depth review. We want to determine what the almost-ultrabook is capable of in terms of mobility, performance, build and display quality.

Powerhouse. Based on the barebones of the MSI GT70H, DevilTech offers a highly configurable, hellishly potent gaming machine. A number of CPUs ranging from the Intel Core i7-4700MQ to the insanely powerful Core i7-4930XM in combination with a GeForce GTX 770M or a GTX 780M should be more than enough to stir any gamer's blood.

Triumphant successor. Acer tries to combine the features of long battery life, low energy consumption and high performance. The company offers a very interesting hardware combination for this purpose: A ULV chip together with a mid-range GPU, at a total price of 600 Euros (~$803).

Round 3. A new SoC is used and the 3G model has been replaced with an LTE module. Now an Atom SoC from Intel can exhibit its performance. Are these the significant differences compared with the 10-inch precursor or is there more to it?

Big screen tablet. Smartphones are growing so browsing and gaming becomes more pleasant. Tablets are growing so we can work more productively and performantly. Is Asus heading in the right direction?

High-resolution x86 Android. An FHD resolution and the still uncommon for Android x86 processor lets the Memo Pad FHD stick out of the crowd. But how will the device fare when examined closely?

Liquid gold? We received the production model of the 5.7-inch Acer Liquid S1 phablet two months after the pre-production one. But we have noticed more than just improvements. Will the Acer phablet receive a purchase recommendation?

Austerity measures? Following the exceptional BlackBerry Q10, the Canadian manufacturer releases an even less expensive version on the market dubbed BlackBerry Q5. For an RRP of 399 Euros (~$534), the smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard inherits a lot of traits from its Q10 sister model, such as a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus SoC with 1.2 GHz, 8 GB of flash memory and 2 GB of RAM.

Office giant with stamina. Lenovo offers an inexpensive office notebook with the G700. Despite the good battery runtimes it is however not a very mobile device with its 17-inch display.

Refined water lover. Samsung slips a 5-inch TFT screen with Full HD resolution into a metal frame and fills the remaining space with all the good inner components from their flagship Galaxy S4. Then they IP certify it -- and voilà, the new outdoor smartphone. A superior quality S4? Can it be true?

Night owl. Not even one year has passed between the release of Nokia's Lumia 920 and its successor, the Lumia 925. Supposedly, the already great camera has seen further improvements. In addition, Nokia's Windows Phone flagship has been slimmed down and equipped with an AMOLED screen. A simple facelift or an example of successful evolution?

The latest Barefoot. The acquisition of Indilinx was an important step for OCZ, as it gave the SSD manufacturer its own, distinct products instead of having to rely on SandForce or Marvell for the most vital circuitry. We have seen what the Barefoot 3 controller is capable of in the Vector. Can the Vertex 450 deliver equivalent performance with the latest revision?

Low-cost quad-core. Packard Bell installs the A4-5000 APU in a 17.3-inch laptop and demands less than 400 Euros (~$536) for it. That could add up to an energy-efficient, enduring office laptop or a sluggish, low-performance computer.

The CPU problem. Does a high-end graphics card suffer from a weak processor? Many gamers will have this question when they consider buying the GX70. Our review takes a closer look at the performance of the gaming device. Is MSI offering a well-balanced package and can the Radeon HD 8970M use its full potential?

Keyboard-tablet. The little Miix 10 wants to be a tool for devoted Windows users: the advantages of a tablet's mobility but without having to rethink operations. The manufacturer adds a keyboard-case in the box so that typing emails is normal routine. The competition cannot offer this for less than 500 Euros (~$666).

Caught in the middle. Lenovo chose AMD APU's Richland generation for the new G505s series. In addition, there is also a dedicated Radeon GPU in the notebooks so that the two graphic cores are working in a Crossfire connection. It sounds like Lenovo is offering a notebook for the economical gamer. Our test determines whether that is true or not.

Loyal everyday companion? For 250 Euros (~$333) the Liquid E2 Duo offers the rare dual-SIM capability accompanied by a good configuration. This includes a bright 4.5-inch IPS display, a Mediatek MT 6589 SoC with integrated PowerVR SGX544 and 1 GB RAM. Also on board: Via microSD card an extendable memory of 4 GB and Android 4.2. What is this mixture good for?

An unequal duel? The times they are a-changin' for the chip industry: x86 in smartphones, ARM in a notebook - what seemed impossible just a few years ago is now a reality. Accordingly, we are comparing different SoCs made by Qualcomm, Nvidia and Mediatek with the x86-based competition from AMD and Intel.

Compact gaming notebook? A light, powerful and inexpensive office notebook is always interesting. The Aspire V5 is equipped with a frugal Intel Haswell processor and an IPS display to satisfy multimedia users. And if you prefer gaming on the go, you will be happy with the GeForce GT 750M graphics. Are we dealing with a gaming notebook in an Ultrabook-disguise?

At least on paper, the touchscreen notebook seems to offers plenty of performance without breaking the bank. How compelling is this newest entry in the VivoBook-series and how does it stack up against the competition?

Refreshed. A touchscreen alongside Intel's latest Haswell CPUs should boost the appeal of Dell's refreshed Inspiron 15R. Outstanding battery runtimes and low emissions speak for the 15-incher. But can that compensate for the omitted dedicated graphics card?
