Oukitel WP30 Pro debuts as rugged smartphone with series-first 120W charging
The next 120W smartphones from Xiaomi and Redmi have yet to launch - however, Oukitel's latest smartphone has beaten them to the market with the same spec.
The WP 30 has a chunky MIL-STD-810H/IP69K/IP68-rated chassis, as with most of its predecessors; however, this rugged smartphone has something none of its WP-series forebears does: up-to-120W charging speeds via USB type-C.
Oukitel thus touts it as the first ever rugged smartphone with this feature (although the Ulefone Armor 23 Ultra might have something to say about that). The WP30 Pro's ultra-fast-charging battery, rated for a capacity of 11,000mAh, can also act as a wired power bank for other smartphones, although wireless charging or reverse wireless charging seem beyond its abilities.
Oukitel has also now confirmed that the WP30 Pro is also 5G, albeit due to the presence of a mid-range Dimensity 8050 SoC. It drives 2 displays in the new smartphone: a main 6.78-inch FHD+ display and an 1.8-inch rear-facing screen, flanked by cameras that include a 108MP primary shooter and a 20MP Night Vision camera.
The WP30 Pro also has "2x" internal storage: 512GB, although that spec apparently negates the need for a microSD card slot. It has NFC, albeit only for Google Pay, and Bluetooth 5.2 rather than a headphone jack.
The new Oukitel WP30 Pro is now listed on AliExpress for US$479.99 - however, its "Global Premiere" will not occur until November 11, 2023, which may or may not imply scope for further discounts on that date.
