OnePlus Ace 3 to launch with new 1.5K and 2,600-nit AMOLED display
It appears that OnePlus is preparing to release another Ace-branded smartphone in China, only a few months after it presented the Ace 2 Pro. For reference, Ace 2 and Ace 2V arrived in early 2023, with the Ace and Ace Pro debuting last year. This time, it is the turn of the Ace 3, which OnePlus showcased yesterday alongside the OnePlus 12.
While full device details are unknown for now, OnePlus has offered a few hints about the Ace 3's display. For context, the company also outlined various OnePlus 12 display specifications, which we have covered separately. As an earlier leak suggested, OnePlus' cheaper alternative to the 2K display in the OnePlus 12 will be a 1.5K panel, an unusual resolution that corresponds to 2,772 x 1,240 pixels.
OnePlus will source this 1.5K panel for the Ace 3 from BOE, the same supplier for the OnePlus 12's 2K panel. Reportedly, the new 1.5K panel will provide 2,600 nits peak brightness, which would see the Ace 3 eclipsing the Pixel 8 Pro by 200 nits and matching the Oppo Find X6 Pro. Also, the panel combines with Oppo's P1 display chip to achieve DisplayMate's A+ ratings for brightness and colour accuracy. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen when OnePlus will release the Ace 3, nor when it will arrive outside China, presumably as the OnePlus 12R.
