Xiaomi 14 touted as having 3,000-nit TCL C8 display with 1.5K resolution and 1-120 Hz variable refresh rate
Xiaomi continues to publish a slew of teasers about its forthcoming flagships on Chinese social media in the run-up to tomorrow's Xiaomi 14 series launch. While the company took to this year's Snapdragon Summit to showcase the Xiaomi 14 in four colours, it has used one of its Weibo accounts to outline various display specifications. Incidentally, it has already teased the smartphone's ultra-thin display bezels, which should surpass those of the iPhone 15 Pro.
As the images below show, Xiaomi boasts that its smaller flagship will showcase the C8, a mid-sized AMOLED panel that it sources from TCL. In contrast to OnePlus, Xiaomi has already revealed that the TCL C8 panel inside the Xiaomi 14 will deliver 3,000 nits peak brightness. In other words, the Xiaomi 14 will have one of the brightest displays around when it launches tomorrow, even more so than the OnePlus Open.
Additionally, the TCL C8 has a 1.5K resolution, likely 1220p, and 460 PPI pixel density. Although Xiaomi does not acknowledge this in its marketing material, a switch to a 1220p panel alone would be a significant upgrade from the Xiaomi 13, whose 6.36-inch display peaks at 1080p and 1,900 nits. Moreover, Xiaomi boasts full 1-120 Hz refresh rate coverage, from which we can infer that the Xiaomi 14 also has an LTPO backplane. Furthermore, the upcoming handset should offer full DC dimming, which is particularly useful for those who are sensitive to pulse-width modulation (PWM).
