For the first time, we can see what the successor to the Oppo Find X8 Ultra will actually look like in the form of render images. After spy shots gave an early glimpse of the Oppo Find X9 Ultra and its external camera kit a few days ago, Indian leaker Yogesh Brar (via Smartprix) has now revealed what is allegedly the final design of the upcoming Hasselblad camera flagship, which is rumored to be targeting customers outside of China this time around.
It is important to note that these are not leaks of official renders or marketing materials. These were created by the leaker, partly with AI assistance, based on supposedly accurate designs, and are intended to show the general appearance of the Find X9 Ultra's back, although details may of course change before the launch. While the round camera design is largely the same as its predecessor, Oppo seems to be taking a new approach in regard to its choice of materials for the back.
Dual-Tone rugged look with faux leather
Vegan leather backs have been a recurring feature on Chinese smartphones for years, but this time Oppo appears to have opted for a mix of metal and thick leather-like material to create not only a premium dual-tone look but also a more robust-looking case, as the images above show (in two colors). According to the leaker, there will be three primary color options: in addition to black and brown, an orange tone is also apparently planned, which we don't see here. Classic variants with a glass back are also reportedly planned, but the dual-tone leather design is expected to be the primary variant.
Spannende Oppo Find X9 Ultra specs
Equally exciting is the spec sheet, as the Find X9 Ultra is expected to come with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship, a 6.82-inch 2K 120 Hz AMOLED display and a 7,300 mAh battery. As Digital Chat Station and other leakers recently pointed out, the Hasselblad quad camera with dual periscope telephoto lens will offer 10x optical zoom for the first time since the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, in the form of a 50 MP LYT-600 sensor – previously, the ISOCELL JN5 was mentioned. The LYT-600, at 1/1.95 inches, would be the better choice due to its larger size, but the leaker confirms the 1/2.76-inch ISOCELL JN5 will be used for the ultrawide lens.
The two "main cameras" are significantly larger: the first is Sony's 200 MP LYT-901 with a size of 1/1.12 inches and an f/1.5 aperture, and the second is Omnivision's new 200 MP 1/1.28-inch sensor for 3x telephoto with an f/2.2 aperture. According to the leaker, the latter can be optionally combined with the 300 mm teleconverter to achieve 13.2x optical zoom if you don't want to use the 10x telephoto digital zoom. Last but not least, there is also said to be a 50 MP selfie cam hidden on the front. The Chinese launch is expected at the beginning of the second quarter, probably in April. The global launch may follow a little later, which Yogesh Brar also confirms.
