The DJI Ronin 5 (RS 5) has made its way out of China to receive a global release. Available for a fortnight in DJI's home market, the RS 5 is the only fifth-generation camera stabiliser that the company has launched so far. As a result, the RS 4 Mini remains a viable option for those who are after a smaller camera stabiliser (curr. $349 on Amazon).
As we have discussed previously, the RS 5 boasts improved battery life and charging speeds. Also, the device is DJI's first that leverages its 5th generation stabilisation algorithm. However, the RS 5 can only carry up to 3 kg payloads rather than 4.5 kg like the RS 4 Pro.
Surprisingly, DJI has decided against selling the RS 5 in the US. The camera stabiliser has reached other parts of North America, though. For instance, Canada has received the RS 5 for $479 (~CA$648) with combo packages reaching up to $1,138 (~$1,539). At this stage, it is unclear whether DJI plans to launch the RS 5 in the US at all.
Meanwhile, the RS 5 starts at £485 and €569 in Europe. Alternatively, DJI is offering the new camera stabiliser with its RS Enhanced Intelligent Tracking Module and Electronic Briefcase Handle for £619 and €719. Other combo packages add the SDR Transmission Combo and other accessories, an overview of these we have included below.
