Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III compact camera with large sensor gets new limited edition

The Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III is almost six years old. Despite increasing demand, Canon has refrained from releasing a true successor to the high-end compact camera so far. Instead, the company is now presenting a limited anniversary edition to celebrate 30 years of PowerShot.
This special model comes in graphite and features a special anniversary logo on the flash. Technically, nothing has changed, meaning the PowerShot G7 X Mark III will be somewhat outdated by 2026. At the heart of the camera is a 20.9-megapixel 1-inch CMOS sensor, paired with a zoom lens offering a 24-100mm equivalent focal length (35mm equivalent), providing 4.2x optical zoom. The lens also features image stabilization.
The PowerShot G7 X Mark III offers both an electronic and a mechanical shutter. The camera lacks an electronic viewfinder, but it does offer a 3-inch touchscreen with 1.04 million pixels that can be folded out. There is no hot shoe, but there is a small pop-up flash. The battery is said to allow for 265 photos and can be charged directly in the camera via USB-C.
Price and availability
The Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III anniversary edition is now available for pre-order for $1,299 via Canon's online shop, with delivery expected to begin on April 28, 2026. The camera is only available in a limited edition, but Canon has not specified the number of units available.
