A few days ago, we reported on the launch of Xiaomi's Ultrathin Magnetic Power Bank 5000. A universal rival to the iPhone Air MagSafe Battery (curr. $79 on Amazon), the Ultrathin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 was initially limited to sale in Japan. Now though, the accessory has now reached more markets ahead of a presumed global rollout later this year.
To recap, the Ultrathin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 contains a 5,000 mAh battery within an aluminium alloy housing that weighs 98 g and is a mere 6 mm thick. Additionally, the powerbank can recharge devices wirelessly at 15 W or 22.5 W using its USB Type-C port. Also, the Ultrathin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 can recharge two devices simultaneously.
Moreover, the powerbank provides official compatibility with recent Apple iPhone, Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel flagships. Wireless charging speeds top out at 7.5 W on all iPhones between the iPhone 12 and iPhone 17 series, though. The Ultrathin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 can now be found across Xiaomi's Australian, Singaporean and South Korean websites. For reference, Xiaomi has priced its new powerbank at AUD 129 (~$88), SGD 69.90 (~$55) and KRW 74,800 (~$51), respectively.
However, Xiaomi Australia has already discounted the Ultrathin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 to AUD 69.50 (~$47). Incidentally, one can also pick up the same powerbank globally from Alibaba and AliExpress resellers. For the time being, Alibaba is the cheaper of the two marketplaces with sub-$40 pricing.
