8849 Tech offers numerous rugged outdoor smartphones, but the Tank X arguably features the most high-end projector of all models to date. To be more precise, the phone sports a DLP projector with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a brightness of 220 nits, while laser autofocus should make the setup much easier.
On the back of the smartphone, there’s an LED camping light with a peak brightness of 1,200 lumens. Like many high-end outdoor smartphones, the handset is also equipped with a 64MP night vision camera, which is installed alongside the 50MP main camera, 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and 50MP selfie camera. The 6.78-inch display has a resolution of 2460 x 1,080 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz.
The 8849 Tank X is 1.26 inches thick and weighs around 26.5 oz, which is about as thick and as heavy as four Apple iPhone 17 units stacked on top of each other. The large chassis offers enough space for a gigantic 17,600mAh battery that can be charged via USB-C at up to 120 watts. The smartphone can further be used as a power bank which charges other devices at up to 10 watts. The Tank X also features a fast MediaTek Dimensity 8200 that’s paired with 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage. GPS, NFC, dual SIM support, a microSD slot, 3.5mm headphone jack and an infrared transmitter round out the feature set.
Price and availability
The 8849 Tank X will be available starting on February 1 at the manufacturer’s online store, but 8849 Tech has not yet confirmed any pricing details.
