Epson is expanding its projector lineup with another device, namely the Lifestudio Grand EH-LS970. This is a UST projector that only needs a short distance to the projection surface. Ideally, such a projector can simply be placed on a lowboard or TV stand, in which case users don’t have to set up a huge television set. That said, using a projection screen is highly recommended.
The throw ratio of the Lifestudio Grand EH-LS970 can be adjusted between 0.16:1 and 0.40:1. Epson further specifies a projection size of up to 150 inches. Most regular televisions in the consumer segment max out at 83 inches, which is why home theater enthusiasts with a large living room might want to consider a 4K projector as an alternative. The remaining specs of the Epson Lifestudio Grand EH-LS970 include a brightness of up to 4,000 lumens, which should be high enough even for rooms with some natural light.
According to Epson, UST projector is 29dB loud, but a silent mode lowers that noise to just 18dB. Meanwhile, the light source supposedly has a lifespan of up to 20,000 hours, and the projector offers a contrast ratio of up to 5,000,000:1. Thanks to ALLM and an input lag of under 20ms, the Lifestudio Grand EH-LS970 should be suitable for gamers as well. However, potential buyers should note that the 4K resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels is probably achieved via pixel shifting. Epson’s new 4K UST projector is scheduled to hit the European market in April 2026.
