Geekom has quietly updated its A5 mini-PC series with the A5 Pro. For context, the Geekom A5 landed with the Ryzen 7 5800H APU from AMD's Cezanne series. Packing 8 Zen 3 cores, a 45 W TDP and 32 GB of RAM, we considered the Geekom A5 a worthy NUC alternative when reviewing it in late 2023.
A few years later and Geekom has updated the A5 Pro with a new version. Replacing a Ryzen 5 7430U variant from 2025, the A5 Pro is not necessarily the upgrade that one may expect over the existing A5. On the one hand, Geekom has swapped the Ryzen 7 5800H for the slightly newer Ryzen 5 7530U. Unfortunately, this change results in a 15-20% performance drop according to our benchmarks.
On the other hand, the A5 Pro drops to 16 GB of RAM. However, the mini-PC itself supports up to 64 GB of DDR4 RAM via two SO-DIMM slots. Moreover, Geekom includes M.2 2242 and M.2 2280 slots for adding up to 3 TB of storage. Geekom has given its mini-PC a makeover since its Ryzen 7 5800H days though, but I/O remains unchanged:
- 1× 2.5 Gigabit LAN (RJ45)
- 1x 3.5 mm jack
- 1x DC in
- 2x HDMI 2.0
- 1x SD card reader
- 1x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 3× USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
- 2× USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C
The Geekom A5 Pro retails for £499 (~$671) in the UK with the Ryzen 5 7530U, 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD. Alternatively, the mini-PC can be picked up for £469 (~$631) when redeeming CMS30 code at checkout. At the time of writing, this Ryzen 5 7530U variant has not reached other markets like Europe and North America. Instead, Geekom continues to sell the older Ryzen 5 7430U variant (curr. $376 on Amazon), which trails its Ryzen 5 7530U sibling by over 10% in our benchmarks.
