GMKtec has introduced the NucBox K16 in the global market, and while it comes with a decent set of specs, it launched with a rather unappealing price tag, which is likely due to the current condition of the memory market. There are two options available on the official store.
Both of them come with 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM but are pre-equipped with different storage drives. One features a 512GB SSD, and it has a launch price of $679.99, while the other comes with a 1TB SSD, which costs $729.99. Currently, GMKtec is pairing a 30W USB-C PD power adapter with every purchase, which is said to be worth $29.
Getting back to the mini PC itself, it's powered by the AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS, which is from the Rembrandt-HS Refresh lineup. It features eight Zen 3+ cores and has the relatively capable Radeon 680M. While this iGPU is capable enough to handle some gaming at the FHD resolution, it's less powerful than the 780M.
The good part is that the GMK K16 has an OCuLink port, allowing users to pair an eGPU with the system. There's a USB4 port as well, which expands the external GPU compatibility of the system. In addition to these, the port configuration has the following:
- 3x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
- 1x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 2x 2.5G LAN
- 1x HDMI
- 1x DisplayPort 1.4
For wireless connectivity, the mini PC has WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. Dual-fan cooling system, a compact form factor, support for 16TB of storage, and three performance modes are among the other highlights of the GMKtec K16. While all these specs are decent, better configured options like the Bosgame M4 (config with 32GB RAM and 1TB storage curr. $579.99) are available for much cheaper.
