Considering the utterly sad state of memory and storage pricing, finding a decent mini PC deal has gotten harder than ever before. The well-equipped GMKtec Evo-T1, however, is currently witnessing a pretty attractive 22% discount on Amazon, putting its price in close proximity of its all-time low.
At just under $1,070, the Evo-T1 gaming mini PC offers a lot of value, especially considering that it comes equipped with 64 GB of DDR5-5600 memory and 2 TB of solid-state storage (PCIe 4.0). Powered by the impressive 16-core Intel Core Ultra 9 285H CPU, the Evo-T1 should be able to handle almost any workload thrown its way. In synthetic benchmarks, the 285H is neck-and-neck with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 'Strix Point' APU found in competing AMD-powered systems.
GMKtec Evo-T1 mini PC: Powerful 16-core CPU, great sustained performance
Our in-depth review of the Evo-T1 mini PC paints a promising picture, which is definitely to be expected considering the premium price. We were extremely pleased with the thermal performance of the Evo-T1, with our Cinebench loop revealing steady performance. However, the mini PC does get audibly loud when pushed. When set to the modest "Balanced" mode, the system gets much quieter.
We were also pleased with the mini PC's I/O on offer, consisting of the following ports:
- OCuLink
- Triple USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, dual USB 2.0 Type-A
- USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (with PD, DisplayPort), USB 4
- DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1
- Dual 2.5G Ethernet
- Audio jack
Decent iGPU for basic tasks, OCuLink port for fast eGPU setups
Unsurprisingly, the GMKtec Evo-T1 mini PC lacks support for internal discrete graphics, with the system relying on the Arc 140T iGPU. While no powerhouse, the integrated GPU manages performance that is roughly equivalent to the Radeon 890M, making it acceptable for moderate workloads. Lightweight gaming and casual video editing should not be much of a hassle, but folks who desire more GPU grunt will definitely find the OCuLink port handy for speedy eGPU connections.
At its current discounted price on Amazon, the GMKtec Evo-T1 gaming mini PC is surely a decent purchase, especially considering the skyrocketing memory and storage prices. Interested customers are definitely encouraged to check out our detailed review of the mini PC before pulling the trigger.
