UnifyDrive has now made the UC250 and UC450 Pro NAS systems available for purchase. Priced at $399 and $1,499 respectively, the two NAS systems target both the affordable and high-end segments, offering features that match their respective price brackets.

UnifyDrive introduced a pair of new NAS systems - the budget-oriented UC250, and the high-end UC450 Pro - earlier this month. Both of the systems have now gone on sale, priced at $399 and $1,499 respectively.

UC250: Affordable NAS with quad-core Intel Twin Lake CPU

The UC250, as mentioned earlier, is presented as a budget-friendly variant with modest specifications. Like many other affordable NAS systems, the UC250 is powered by an Intel N150 CPU, featuring four cores and four threads. In synthetic benchmarks, the 6-watt N150 is about as powerful as the 8-year old Core i5-8250U chip found in ultrabooks from the time. For an entry-level NAS, the performance should be adequate, but customers are definitely advised to tame their expectations.

The UnifyDrive UC250 NAS also rocks up to 16 GB of DDR4-3200 memory, 32 GB onboard eMMC storage, as well as dual M.2 2280 (PCIe 3.0) and dual 2.5/3.5-inch slots. At maximum, the NAS can accommodate a whopping 76 TB of storage. The I/O is okay enough for a budget NAS, packing the following ports:

  • 2.5G Ethernet
  • USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C
  • USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
  • HDMI 2.1

At 15.8 x 9.8 x 23.3 cm, the UC250 is quite compact, and tips the scales at just around 1.08 kg or 2.38 lbs.

UC450 Pro: High-end NAS with Thunderbolt 4 and 14-core Intel Core Ultra 5 CPU

The UC450 Pro, on the other hand, is a much more premium NAS with truly powerful internals, rocking the Intel Core Ultra 5 225H CPU with 14-cores, paired with up to 128 GB of DDR5 memory. In synthetic benchmarks, the 225H trades blows with the AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS Hawk Point APU, and features the Arc 130T iGPU for decent performance in tasks that are not too GPU-intensive.

A maximum 152 TB of storage can be configured, courtesy of the four M.2 2280 (3x PCIe 4.0 x4, 1x PCIe 3.0 x4), dual U.2, and dual SATA 3.0 slots. 32 GB of onboard eMMC storage is also offered. The UC450 Pro packs an impressive array of ports as well, featuring the following:

  • Dual Thunderbolt 4
  • 10G, 1G Ethernet
  • HDMI 2.1
  • USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A

Unsurprisingly, the UC450 Pro NAS is much larger and heavier than the UC250, weighing in at just under 3.7 kg or 8.17 lbs, with dimensions of 18.4 x 18.4 x 24.2 cm. Wireless networking is taken care of by WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. Thanks to the TB4 ports, the UC450 Pro can also take advantage of eGPUs for intensive workloads.

Folks who require even more hard drive bays, can check out something like the similarly priced Ugreen DXP8800 8-bay NAS, currently on sale for just $1,349 on Amazon.
