Ugreen has launched the LinkStation eGPU dock in the US. The enclosure first debuted in China late last year and is one of the few options than offer both USB-C and OCuLink connectivity, though it does come with a few tradeoffs.
The LinkStation connects to laptops and handheld consoles over a 40 Gbps USB4 interface, which is also compatible with Thunderbolt 4 and Thunderbolt 3. For users who want maximum performance, it also supports OCuLink with much faster 64 Gbps PCIe 4.0 x4 bandwidth, making it a better fit for mini PCs like the Minisforum X1 Pro-470.
Another big highlight is the built-in 850 W 80 Plus Gold power supply, meaning users only need to bring a graphics card. By comparison, the recently released Minisforum DEG2 eGPU Dock (curr: $254.99 on Amazon) offers OCuLink and a faster 80 Gbps Thunderbolt 5 port, but it does not include a power supply. That said, with 12V-2x6 and PCIe 8-pin connectors, the LinkStation should comfortably support high-end GPUs such as the RTX 5090, RTX 4090, and RTX 4080, with room for cards up to 370 mm long and four slots thick.
The enclosure itself uses a semi-open aluminum chassis to prioritize airflow, paired with a low-RPM ATX 3.1 PSU fan. However, unlike the Minisforum DEG2, there is no M.2 slot or Ethernet port here. Connectivity is limited to OCuLink and USB4, with the latter also delivering up to 100 W of charging to the host device. The Ugreen LinkStation eGPU dock is now available on Amazon for $449.99.
