Ugreen launches graphics card expansion dock with an 850W gold-rated power supply

Ugreen is mainly known for its chargers and accessories, but the company is now expanding into computer hardware with its new LinkStation Graphics Card Expansion Dock. The dock lets you connect a full-sized desktop graphics card to a laptop or handheld console. It features a semi-open aluminum design that helps with airflow and includes a built-in 850W power supply that is rated for high efficiency.

The LinkStation supports two different connection methods to suit various devices and performance needs. You can use the Oculink port, which supports data transfer speeds of 64Gbps for a faster and more stable connection. The dock also offers a USB4 port that runs at 40Gbps and provides 100W of reverse charging to power your laptop while in use. Ugreen provides both a 0.8m USB4 cable and a 0.5m Oculink cable in the box so you have everything needed to get started.

The enclosure is designed to fit large graphics cards up to 370mm in length from manufacturers like Nvidia, AMD, and Intel. The top cover of the unit can be removed to create extra space if your card is longer than the standard dimensions. The internal power supply meets ATX 3.1 standards and is capable of powering high-end cards such as the Nvidia 40 and 50 series graphics cards.

Ugreen shared benchmark data to demonstrate how the dock compares to a traditional desktop computer setup. An RTX 5090 graphics card scored 34,508 points in a Port Royal test on a desktop, while the same card connected to a laptop via the LinkStation's Oculink port scored 30,164 points. This result indicates that while a direct motherboard connection is still faster, the Oculink connection is still able to maintain a high level of performance for external setups.

The dock weighs 5.08kg and is currently available for purchase in China for 2,299 yuan, which is around $325 and includes a one-year warranty.
