ENGWE touts its long-hyped new form factor as a fun way to get anything through (or out of) town without worrying about the cost, emissions (or need to find parking) that comes with the use of a car instead.
The LE20 comes with 20 x 3-inch tires, a 75 Newton-meter (Nm) torque sensor and a 750 watt (W) motor with a 1,300W peak mode. It is rated to go at up to 28 miles per hour (mph, or ~45km/h) in pedal-assist mode for up to 211 miles per charge - albeit assuming a load of ~165lb (75kg) in a rider only.
However, it owes its new 'cargo' designation to a particularly long (74.8-inch or 190-centimeter (cm)), angular take on a step-through e-bike, modified with a cushion-topped Safety Board over the rear wheels in its $1,399 base model.
It can be augmented with a modular set of accessories: front and rear racks; a safety rail; or a canvas pannier for up to 2 children, although each one can only be unlocked by buying the LE20's Cargo, Passenger or Versatile Canvas SKUs instead.
They are priced at $1,530, $1,645 and $1,636 respectively - alternatively, upgrading the Standard version with the new 8 amp (A) FlashCharge power brick that might cut the bike's charging time down to just 2-3 hours instead would cost $1,536.
Furthermore, selecting the bike's Dual (48V/2 x 19.2Ah) Battery option raises each of those prices by $300. Then again, they are also all at least $100 off their RRPs right now.
In addition, each LE20 ordered from now until October 7, 2024 is slated to come with free ENGWE accessory packs that include a helmet, a lock, a high-vis vest and a "10th Anniversary" keychain. The code LE2050OFF for an extra discount of $50 is also valid until that date.
The full LE20 range can be found in blue or gray on engwe.com, while a limited selection of its Dual Battery SKUs has made it to Amazon at the time of writing.
