Decathlon announces new Rockrider E-EXPL 900 electric mountain bike
Decathlon has unveiled the Rockrider E-EXPL 900 26″ electric mountain bike at Roc d’Azur 2024. The new model is designed for children and is not expected to launch until 2025. This will be the second Rockrider kids e-bike, following the E-ST 500 26” which arrived last year.
The E-EXPL 900 features a Mahle X30 rear hub motor for up to 45 Nm torque, adding 1.9 kg (~4.2 lbs) to the bike's weight. This is accompanied by a 237Wh battery, hidden inside the bike’s frame, for between 60 and 100 km (~37 and 62 miles) of assistance range, depending on the conditions. Other features of the 9-speed model include a Microshift Advent M6195 rear derailleur, a RockShox Judy RK suspension fork with 80 mm travel, Hutchinson Toro 26” tires and Tektro hydraulic disc brakes. The bike is said to weigh around 16 kg (~35 lbs) and is suitable for kids who are between 135 and 150 cm (~4’ 5” and 4’ 11” inches) tall.
One report suggests that the Decathlon Rockrider E-EXPL 900 26″ kids electric mountain bike will launch in Europe in September 2025 for around €1,800. A second source confirms the pricing, though it suggests an earlier launch date of May 2025. On top of this, it has been suggested that the e-bike will be available to rent as well as to purchase. Whether it will also be released in the UK remains to be seen.
