Decathlon launches new Rockrider E-ACTV 500 HF smart e-bike
Decathlon has launched a new e-bike in Europe, the Rockrider E-ACTV 500 high frame. The model shares many similarities with the low-frame version, which launched earlier this year. For example, both electric bicycles are powered by a 250W Yamaha motor with 55Nm torque.
The E-ACTV 500 offers five assistance modes, with a 504Wh battery providing up to 150 km (~93 miles) range on the lowest power setting, eco mode. The assistance level can be adjusted on the color control screen, which also provides a USB-A charging port. Other features of the 8-speed model include a Suntour SF15 NEX-E25 suspension fork, a Microshift Acolyte Derailleur, Rockrider Protect+ off-road puncture-proof tires and Tektro T280 hydraulic disc brakes. On top of this, there are accessories such as lights, fenders and an optional luggage rack. Plus, the smart e-bike is compatible with the Decathlon Ride app.
The high frame model has a dark green finish, and is slightly heavier, with the medium model weighing 24.7 kg (~54.5 lbs), including the battery; by comparison, the low frame variant weighs 24.5 kg (~54.0 lbs). The Decathlon Rockrider E-ACTV 500 HF e-bike is now available in European countries like France and Germany for €1,999. That is the same price as the original low-frame version. It is unclear whether or when the model will land in other markets like the UK, where the low frame variant is already on sale for £1,999.
