Alternate outs its own €199 netbook

The mini-laptop is now available to customers for purchase


The German company Alternate has reportedly launched a new netbook, which is now available for order at its dedicated online shop. This is of course, in case you live in Germany and you need a budget-friendly ultra-portable computer.


In terms of specifications, the Alternate Mobile Mini is your typical netbook from 2009. The device comes with a 10.1-inch 16:9 Glare display with a maximum resolution of 1024-by-600 pixels. Under the hood, you will also find an Intel Atom N270 processor with a clock frequency of 1.6GHz and Intel’s GMA 950 graphics controller with shared VRAM. Furthermore, this ultra-portable PC houses 1GB (up to 2GB) of internal DDR2 memory and 160GB of storage capacity in form of a mechanical hard drive, which rotates at 5400RPM.


Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g module, three USB 2.0 ports, a VGA output and 3-in-1 card-reader slot. Also available is an integrated 1.3MP web camera for video conferencing.

Other specs and Pricing

Instead of Windows or Linux, the Mobile Mini comes with FreeDOS and is priced at €199 (US $268.50/£175.30). In addition, it ships with a 3-cell 2600mA battery and weighs just 1.1kg (2.43lbs).
