IKEA Dirigera Hub now Matter controller thanks to update

IKEA has released a new update for the Dirigera Hub. Software version 2.805.6, reported by users on Reddit, brings an important new feature to the brand's smart home hub, alongside a couple of more minor changes.

The IKEA Dirigera Hub can now act as a Matter controller. The product became a Matter bridge through an update in late 2024, allowing IKEA devices to integrate with other Matter-certified smart home ecosystems. With the latest release, users can also connect smart home products from other brands to the IKEA hub. This feature is currently in beta testing, and the update enables Thread version 1.4. To join this beta, users must have the latest version of the IKEA Home smart app (Android: 1.47.0, iOS 1.51.0), accessing the feature through The Workshop.

Also listed in the change log is a tweak for smart lights. After the update, any manual changes made by a user to a smart light's brightness or color will turn off Adaptive Lighting completely. Historically, Adaptive Lighting would automatically resume when the light was turned off and on again; users must now manually reselect this setting. Several users have lodged complaints about this alteration on Reddit. 

There are also said to be minor bug fixes with this update, though no further details have been provided. According to IKEA, software version 2.805.6 is rolling out to users of the Dirigera Hub in phases. The company has yet to indicate when it will reach all users globally.
