Pebble should be a familiar name for many tech enthusiasts, as it’s a brand of smartwatches that is about to make a comeback. At the same time, there's apparently another company called Pebble, which offers various other products, including headphones and a new smart ring called the Halo. The Pebble Halo is not just a new product but also a case study in economics. It's very likely that the Halo smart ring is simply a rebadged OEM product that’s being offered by several other companies under different brand names, such as the Rollme R11 Ultra we recently reported on.
That said, the Halo smart ring is available in India for the equivalent of $47. The advertised 50% discount is probably not a proper markdown but rather a marketing tactic. The wearable can be used to control smartphones to some extent. For instance, the ring can be used to scroll through social media feeds. The Halo also has a built-in display, which seems to be limited to showing numbers.
Furthermore, the gadget can measure heart rate, count steps and is supposed to analyze sleep quality. The battery can supposedly last up to three days, which would be a runtime that’s arguably below the average of many competing smart rings. For more demanding users, the more expensive RingConn Gen 1 (from $169 on Amazon) might be worth considering.
