Sony has been spotted distributing a new round of updates for two of its 1000X series devices. Inexplicably, the WH-1000XM5 has been left off the list for the time being. Instead, Sony is offering new firmware to the WF-1000XM5 and WH-1000XM6 (curr. $448 on Amazon) as Version 5.0.2 and Version 2.0.2, respectively.
According to Sony, both updates improve Quick Access and Scene-based Listening modes with Apple Music and YouTube Music. On top of that, the new firmwares add a new Low Latency Bluetooth connection method to complement the Stable Connection and Sound Quality priorisations that were available previously.
Moreover, Sony boasts that both updates allow the 'capture your own voice during call' functionality to work across all ambient sound controls. The WH-1000XM6 can also now warn when its USB Type-C port has suffered water damage, too. As well as that, the headphones will offer French, German and Spanish voice controls after updating to Version 2.0.2.
As always, the new firmware updates must be installed via the Sound Connect app and could take an hour to complete. Also, neither the WF-1000XM5 nor the WH-1000XM6 can be charging when updating.
