The Huawei Watch 5 smartwatch is receiving a new global update. This model launched in Europe in May 2025 as a premium wearable with various health and fitness tracking features. Now, users have reported receiving software version 5.1.0.110 SP17, a 734.05 MB file.
Despite the size of this HarmonyOS 5.1 release, the change log for the 5.1.0.110 update only states that it “optimizes system stability in certain situations”. However, users have spotted a new voice recorder function, which allows you to make voice memos on your Watch 5. This feature has also started to roll out to the Watch D2 and the Watch GT 5.
In China, the release notes for software version 5.1.0.110 listed several other new tools and improvements. These include fall detection and SOS features, and the ability to view your family’s health metrics like heart rate and blood oxygen level, provided they have a compatible smartwatch. There are new smart gestures for the timer, and Alipay payments can be made when the screen is turned off. The heart rate app is said to have been upgraded, with new measurements like HRV (Heart Rate Variability), exercise heart rate and recovery heart rate. Plus, a health summary app can help users spot trends in the collected data.
It remains unclear precisely which features are included in the global Huawei Watch 5 software version 5.1.0.110 SP17 release. It is rolling out to users in phases; when it is available in your region, you will be able to download the update through the Huawei Health app.
