Garmin is rumored to be working on new features for runners. The company recently released tools like Step speed loss, Running economy and Running tolerance with the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 smartwatches (curr. $749.99 at Amazon).
Now, a report by the5krunner suggests that Garmin is planning to release a new Course Planner tool in the Garmin Connect Mobile app. Here, users can already find existing or create courses in Garmin Connect. The app can generate courses for you based on your chosen distance and direction, using the Garmin Connect Trendline Popularity Routing tool.
The new Course Planner tool is likely to suit ultra runners and other endurance athletes. Rumors suggest that you will be able to add cutoff times, be these mandated by an event organizer or your own targets, with accompanying countdown timers. You will also be able to add rest breaks and notes at your chosen course points. Plus, there is rumored to be support for repeat crossings at the same point, and a bulk management tool for faster edits.
The5krunner does not indicate the source of this rumor. It remains to be seen when the new Garmin Course Planner feature will reach the brand’s app. Another unknown is the list of compatible smartwatches.
