Pandemic-related reasons or not, the new major update for War Thunder spent over three months in the pipeline. The successor of War Thunder 1.99 "Starfighters" is not version 2.01, but 1.101, is called "Raining Fire" and does not focus on any specific tech tree or category of war machines. Fortunately, it comes with around 30 pieces of military hardware, a new weapon for naval battles — naval mines, and much more.
The highlights of War Thunder 1.101 "Raining Fire" include one of the most potent ships in the game so far, namely the rank V Italian heavy cruiser Zara, three new T-72 modifications that join the Russian tech tree — T72B, T-72B3, and T-72B3 UBH, a rather interesting low-tier Japanese tank destroyer that wields a massive 120 mm naval gun (rank II Type 97 Chi-Ha Long Gun), over a dozen new aircraft — most of them jets, four new historical aircraft missions, anti-aircraft machine guns on various German armored vehicles starting with Pz.III M and N variants, laser detection warning for various modern tanks, as well as sea mines — available in naval battles for both ships and planes.
The list of under-the-hood fixes and improvements is very long and can be checked out right here. These being said, you should simply check out the screenshots and the official War Thunder 1.101 "Raining Fire" update presentation video below. As always, feel free to share your thoughts regarding this update in the comments section.
