War Thunder 1.87 "Locked On!" update goes live with new top-tier military hardware
At the end of last year, War Thunder 1.85 arrived with the first supersonic aircraft to join the fun, some of them also carrying thermal guided air-to-air missiles. The name of the 1.87 update — Locked On! — should say it all, but there is much more than just radar systems for all military branches present in the game, such as two new locations, rank VII tanks, new top-tier planes, French helicopters, and so on.
Thanks to the War Thunder 1.87 "Locked On!" update, the Ground Forces part of the game is now featuring no less than seven ranks. These new vehicles can be seen in various conflicts around the world right now: USA's M1A1 Abrams, the British Challenger 2, the Russian T-80U, and the German Leopard 2A5. The update also includes the Russian anti-air system 2S6 Tunguska and the Japanese Type 74 tank.
Although the list of new aircraft includes a few localized versions of planes that have been in the game already, there are also some interesting new arrivals: the Japanese Mitsubishi T-2 - the fastest jet added to the game so far, the British Sea Hawk FGA.6, or the French Super Mystere B2.
In addition to the above, we should also mention that a few new cruisers have been added to the Naval Battles section, the French tech tree has received its first helicopters, and the Coral Islands (naval) and Alaska (ground) maps are now available for War Thunder players. As usual, feel free to enjoy a set of fresh in-game screenshots and the official update movie. What do you think about the new update? Is War Thunder ready to crush its competitors or maybe its creators are pushing new content before solving the problems with the existing vehicles and maps?
