Verdict on the Redmi Note 15 Pro+: Affordable smartphone for construction sites or outdoor use in incognito mode

The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G didn't impress in every aspect of our review, but it does show that rugged smartphones don't have to be particularly thick and heavy. Despite its XXL battery, the mid-range phone remains remarkably thin at just 8.2 millimeters and still weighs a manageable 207 grams.
We'll explain in this article why this Xiaomi smartphone is not only suitable for the living room.
Waterproof Android smartphone with Gorilla Glass Victus 2
Although the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G looks like a "normal" mid-range smartphone, it has some of the features of a rugged smartphone. It is IP68-certified for protection against dust and water and also meets the criteria for TÜV certification in terms of water resistance. To this end, the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ has a total of 17 specially sealed components.
The "titanium structure" of the casing is also particularly noteworthy, enabling certified drop resistance from a height of up to 2.5 meters. This drop resistance was tested by SGS, a leading global testing and certification company, and awarded a 5-star premium certification. We dropped the mid-range smartphone from a height of approximately 1.5 meters, and the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ remained unaffected.
Xiaomi also states that its Redmi Note 15 Pro+ has a tolerance for extreme temperature fluctuations from -20°C to 55°C, and that the mid-range phone should also easily withstand vibrations.
Rain not an issue for the affordable mid-range phone
The Redmi Note 15 Pro+'s large 6.83-inch OLED display is reinforced by durable Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while the back is optionally made of a glass-fiber-reinforced plastic that supposedly provides ten times the impact resistance of its predecessor, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ 5G. The manufacturer also states that the internal construction has been reinforced, particularly the motherboard, to further enhance robustness.
Those who plan to use the mid-range smartphone in heavy rain on a construction site will certainly appreciate a practical feature called Wet Touch. This mode allows the 120Hz display to be used with wet or oily hands. In our tests, the touchscreen function worked well.
After a day on the job site, a special vibration mode can also be used to automatically remove residual water from the speaker grilles and ports.
