If you're looking for a smartphone with long battery life, a good display and extended security updates, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G is a great choice. However, there are a few potential drawbacks to be aware of.

At first glance, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G looks like an expensive smartphone: Although this mid-range phone can be found for under $400, its bezels around the display are so thin that many high-end smartphones pale in comparison.

Top-of-the-line chassis

We measured a screen-to-body ratio of 90%, which is excellent. The display is also now flat, unlike its predecessor, and no longer wraps around the edges. It's protected from damage by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which is typically only found in very expensive flagship smartphones.

IP68 water resistance is also included, meaning you can even take the smartphone on dives in shallow water. A special mode then removes the water from the speakers using high-frequency vibrations.

High-quality AMOLED display

The screen is also unusual: Who would expect an HDR-capable AMOLED display with up to 3,000 nits in a mid-range smartphone? Our measurements confirm that the smartphone actually almost reaches this value. Moreover, it offers six years of security updates, a fairly accurate and well-placed fingerprint sensor, multiple cellular bands for international use, and precise location tracking.Battery life is also impressive thanks to a 6,580 mAh battery. We measured over 30 hours in our practical Wi-Fi test and over 5 hours when gaming.

But there are also weaknesses

Before you rush out and buy the phone, you should be aware of the weaknesses of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G. For example, Xiaomi has (once again) equipped its phone with a rather weak SoC. While this is sufficient for everyday use, it offers little headroom for more demanding tasks.

The Wi-Fi is also not very fast, the cameras only take mediocre pictures, and some apps in Xiaomi's operating system contain advertising. Currently, the smartphone only runs Android 15. Although the screen offers the option of increasing the PWM frequency up to 3,840 Hz, sensitive individuals should try it out before buying.
