Tecno launches new midrange smartphone with graphic chip and matrix display

Tecno has officially launched its latest midrange smartphone, the Pova 8 Pro, in the global market. The smartphone joins the recently launched Pova 8 in the brand’s roster. Interestingly, Transsion Holdings' sub-brand Tecno has packed a dedicated P1 graphic chip into the smartphone, which is further said to enhance the gaming experience and enable 144 fps gaming through game frame interpolation. 

Speaking of the processor, Tecno has opted for a MediaTek chipset for its latest midrange smartphone. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate processor paired with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage with no room for storage expansion. Unfortunately, the pro variant has slightly less battery than the vanilla version. The Pro variant boasts a 6,500 mAh battery with 45 W wired charging support (Ugreen 45 W GaN charger curr. at $21.99 on Amazon). 

The Pova 8 Pro has a 6.78-inch HyperLux AMOLED panel that outputs at 2644 x 1208 pixel resolution with a 144 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. As for lenses, you get a 50 MP primary camera joined by an 8 MP ultrawide camera. Upfront, you get a 13 MP snapper for selfies and video chats. 

Other features include an Alive Matrix display, a 5,000 mm² VC cooling system, an IR blaster, NFC, 4D game vibration, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos tuning, an in-display fingerprint sensor, a dedicated customizable one-tap button, and IP66/68/69K ratings. 

Available in three colorways, including arc white, graphite black, and tundra green, the Pova 8 Pro is available in three configurations: 8 GB + 256 GB, 12 GB + 256 GB, and 12 GB + 512 GB. However, there’s no word on its pricing and availability at the time of writing. Alongside the Pro version, Tecno has also announced the Pova 8 Pro 5G Tonino Lamborghini Limited Edition model, which ships with the Tonino Lamborghini black colorway.
