New Xiaomi budget smartphone receives wider official release with silicon carbon battery and 120 Hz display

Xiaomi has quietly released one of its latest budget smartphones internationally. Available across Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Equipped with a 120 Hz display, the Redmi 17 4G also contains a massive 7,500 mAh silicon carbon battery and a 50 MP primary camera.

Xiaomi has given its latest budget smartphones a wider international release. To recap, the company listed the Redmi 17 4G on its global website less than a week ago alongside the Redmi 17 5G. Now, these listings have been followed up by official releases in over half a dozen markets.

Specifically, Xiaomi is now selling the Redmi 17 4G in at least France, Italy, Malaysia, Spain, Turkey and the UAE. At the time of writing, the company charges €199.90, €249.90, MYR 669, €219.99 and AED 749 (~$203) respectively. For reference, while most markets have received 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage as a starting memory configuration, Xiaomi sells the Redmi 17 4G exclusively with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage in the UAE.

Alternatively, the handset can be configured with 256 GB of storage for €249.99-€279.99 (~$322) in the Eurozone. The Eurozone is the only region to have received four launch colours too, which Xiaomi advertises as Black, Deep Blue, Oak Green and Lotus Purple.

Compared to the Redmi 15 4G it replaces (curr. $169 on Amazon), the Redmi 17 4G gains a higher-capacity silicon-carbon battery rated for 7,500 mAh, 45 W charging and 22.5 W reverse wired charging support. However, the latter contains a lower resolution and slower display. Still, the 720p IPS panel offers a 120 Hz refresh rate and 825 nits peak brightness (HBM).
