Google Pixel 11 Pro series debuts with Tensor G6, new cameras and Qi2.2 charging

Google has officially unveiled the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL, its latest flagship smartphones and successors to last year’s Pixel 10 Pro series. The two phones are once again differentiated primarily by their physical size, with 6.3-inch and 6.8-inch Super Actua displays, respectively.

The Pixel 11 Pro’s 6.3-inch LTPO OLED panel has a resolution of 1,280 x 2,856 pixels, while the 6.8-inch Pixel 11 Pro XL increases that to 1,344 x 2,992 pixels. Both displays offer adaptive 1-120 Hz refresh rates, up to 2,400 nits of HDR brightness and 3,600 nits peak brightness. Google also uses Gorilla Glass Victus 2 with an additional anti-scratch shield.

Under the hood is Google’s new Tensor G6, accompanied by the Titan M3 security coprocessor. RAM capacity also depends on the storage configuration. The entry-level 256 GB variants get 12 GB of RAM, while the 512 GB and 1 TB versions step up to 16 GB. Google also specifies “Zoned UFS” storage for the latter two capacities, which it claims delivers faster performance. Exactly how that works has not been revealed yet. 

Battery capacity is the other primary difference between the two models. The Pixel 11 Pro launches with a 4,850 mAh battery and can reach 55% charge in roughly 30 minutes with a compatible 30 W or faster USB-C charger. The Pixel 11 Pro XL gets a larger 5,115 mAh battery and can reach 75% in around 30 minutes when paired with a 45 W or faster charger. Both phones also support Google’s Pixelsnap magnetic wireless charging system and are Qi2.2 certified, with wireless charging speeds of up to 25 W.

Photography remains one of the Pixel 11 Pro series’ main selling points. Both models use the same triple-camera setup, headlined by a 50 MP f/1.68 main camera with a relatively large 1/1.3-inch sensor. It is joined by a 48 MP f/1.7 autofocus ultrawide with Macro Focus and a 48 MP f/2.8 telephoto with OIS, a 1/1.95-inch sensor and 5x optical zoom. Google claims “optical quality” at 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 5x and 10x, while computational Pro Zoom now stretches all the way to 120x. A 42 MP autofocus ultrawide camera with a 103-degree field of view handles selfies.

Unsurprisingly, software and computational photography remain a major part of Google’s repertoire, something that has been consistent since the first Pixel launched. The Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL introduce Magic Capture alongside Camera Looks and retain Google’s extensive collection of photography features, including Camera Coach, Add Me, Instant Night Sight, astrophotography, Auto Best Take, Face Unblur, Real Tone, Action Pan and 50 MP high-resolution portrait capture.

Google Photos now supports Edit with Ask Photos, allowing users to request edits conversationally, alongside tools for automatically reframing images, changing sky styles, resizing or moving subjects and removing unwanted objects with Magic Eraser. Best Take, Photo Unblur, Zoom Enhance, Portrait Light and portrait blur are present as well.

The Pixel 11 Pro series can record native 4K footage at up to 60 FPS, while Google’s Video Boost enables 8K recording at 24 or 30 FPS. Super Zoom Video reaches 20x, and the phones support Night Sight Video, 10-bit HDR, Audio Magic Eraser and a new Creator suite. Pro Stable Video, speech enhancement, wind-noise reduction and Audio Zoom are included as well. Lastly, the Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL support Gemini Intelligence, the on-device Gemini Nano model, Gemini Live and Google’s wider collection of Gemini apps. Circle to Search and Live Translate return, while Google has also added HiLight Call Assist.

Both the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL come with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, NFC, Ultra-Wideband and dual-band GNSS. US models support both sub-6 GHz and mmWave 5G. There is no physical SIM slot on the US models listed by Google, with the phones instead supporting dual active eSIMs. The devices have IP68 certification and use Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and rear, paired with an aluminium frame. Google promises seven years of Android OS, security and Pixel Drop updates, with both devices running Android 17 out of the box. 

Price and Availability

The Pixel 11 Pro starts at $1,099 in the US, while the larger Pixel 11 Pro XL starts at $1,299, representing a $200 premium for the larger model. Google is accepting pre-orders for the new phones right now on its website. Both devices are available in Canyon, Olive, Fog and Obsidian finishes.
