Xiaomi Poco F9 Ultra reveals itself with Poco F8 Ultra-surpassing massive battery upgrade

An early leak has identified a crucial detail about one of Xiaomi's next Poco F series smartphones. Expected to be released globally, the Poco F9 Ultra will combine Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset with a battery capacity that exceeds 8,000 mAh to surpass the Poco F8 Ultra and its peers.

Earlier this week, Xiaomi started selling the Redmi K100 Pro and Redmi K100 Pro Max. As always with Redmi K series smartphones, this is only true in China. By contrast, Xiaomi has not teased anything yet about launching devices that resemble either of its new Redmi K100 smartphones.

In the meantime, Kacper Skrzypek has shared early details about the global version of the Redmi K100 Pro Max. Taking to X, Skrzypek has provided evidence that this global model will ship with an inferior battery capacity than its Chinese counterpart. For reference, the Redmi K100 Pro Max contains a 9,070 mAh combined capacity, a 19% and 1,510 mAh improvement over the Redmi K90 Pro Max.

Reportedly, the global device in question is the Poco F9 Ultra. As the screenshot above shows, HyperOS code reflects the device featuring an 8,050 mAh rather than the 9,070 mAh found in the Redmi K100 Pro Max. Nonetheless, an 8,050 mAh battery represents a 23.8% and 1,550 mAh uplift over the Poco F8 Ultra (curr. $899 on Amazon).

If previous generations are anything to go by, then the Poco F9 Ultra will adopt the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset from the Redmi K100 Pro Max and its 185 Hz AMOLED display. A launch date and whether the 200 MP camera from the Pro Max appears globally remain unknown for now, though.
