With the Moto G Max, Motorola is introducing a brand-new mid-range smartphone that offers a relatively large 7,000 mAh battery, a 120 Hz display without PWM flicker, and a 50-megapixel main camera at a price equivalent to around $290.

After Motorola announced many details about the Moto G Max a few days ago, the mid-range smartphone is now available, at least in India. Motorola has not yet confirmed details regarding the international launch. The Moto G Max features a typical Motorola design with a colorful body, a square camera module, and a flat plastic frame.

The wide chin below the display is a clear indication of the smartphone’s affordable price, though the Moto G Max does feature a 6.72-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and a brightness of 1,050 nits. The fingerprint sensor is located on the side of the body, which is only IP64-certified and therefore not fully waterproof. Inside, it’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 with four ARM Cortex-A78 performance cores and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores.

The 7,000 mAh battery is designed to provide over two days of battery life and charges via USB-C at up to 30 watts. This mid-range smartphone features a 50-megapixel f/1.8 main camera with a Sony LYT-600 sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 32-megapixel f/2.2 selfie camera. A 3.5 mm headphone jack, dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, and GPS round out the features, though the smartphone does not include an NFC chip. Motorola guarantees two major Android updates and three years of security patches.

Pricing and availability

The Motorola Moto G Max will first launch in India, where the mid-range smartphone will be available exclusively with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash storage for र27,999 ($290), available in Pantone Stargazer (dark blue), Pantone Malaga (pink), or Pantone Alaskan Blue (light blue).
