New Samsung budget phone inches closer to launch

The Samsung Galaxy A07 4G was launched in August 2025 as an entry-level smartphone. It features a 6.7-inch LCD panel, a MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, and a 5,000mAh battery.
Now, its successor has surfaced on the Google Play Console, revealing several details ahead of an official announcement. The listing image shows a design language similar to that of the Galaxy A07 4G (curr. $105 on Amazon), including a pill-shaped rear camera housing. However, the image shows a white option, which was not available for the Galaxy A07 4G.
According to the Google Play Console, the Samsung Galaxy A08 carries model number "SM-A085F". It features the MediaTek Helio G99, which is a 6nm octa-core chipset with 4G connectivity. In our benchmark database, the chipset averages around 403K points in AnTuTu v10. The device is listed with approximately 8GB of RAM and a display resolution of 720 × 1,600 pixels.
The Galaxy A08 therefore appears to retain the same chipset and display resolution as its predecessor. However, it is expected to pack a larger battery. Previous FCC documents revealed a rated battery capacity of 5,830mAh.
Samsung launched both 4G and 5G versions of the Galaxy A07, so a 5G variant of the Galaxy A08 may follow. However, no details about it have surfaced yet.
