The upcoming OnePlus 16's display is reportedly built on a new BOE X4 light-emitting material that's said to use far less power, last twice as long as the previous X3 material, and come with thinner bezels on all four sides. OnePlus itself has confirmed the phone keeps a 185Hz refresh rate and some gaming-focused extras.

A new leak points to an upgrade on the upcoming OnePlus 16's display side. According to tipster Digital Chat Station, OnePlus and BOE have jointly developed a new X4 light-emitting material for the phone, said to use far less power than before while lasting twice as long as the previous X3 material used on the OnePlus 15. Bezels are said to be getting thinner on all four sides too, with the display keeping a flat design rather than curving at the edges.

The leak also points to thinner bezels on all four sides while keeping a flat display design, and claims the new panel beats Samsung's M-series screens on nearly all key metrics, though exact numbers haven't surfaced.

The leak also claims the new X4 panel beats Samsung's M-series screens on nearly every key metric, though it doesn't give resolution, peak brightness, or a final refresh rate figure. What has actually been confirmed, by OnePlus China president Li Jie, is that the screen keeps its 185Hz refresh rate, along with upgrades to two gaming features carried over from the OnePlus 15, the Fengchi gaming engine and e-sports triple-core technology.

Alongside the display news, the OnePlus 16 has also recently picked up SRRC certification in China, under the model number PYB110. Digital Chat Station believes this is the OnePlus 16, and certifications like this usually show up not long before a phone actually launches. Expected specs of the OnePlus 16 include a 6.78-inch display, the same size as the OnePlus 15, a battery around 9,000mAh, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chip, LPDDR6 RAM, and a 200MP main camera, up from 50MP on the OnePlus 15.

Pricing is expected to start at around $815 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version, with an 8GB RAM variant likely returning as a cheaper option. For now, the OnePlus 16 has only been teased for China, and a global release looks unlikely, following OnePlus's earlier exit from the North American and European markets
