OnePlus 16: Next-gen flagship phone inches closer to launch in China

A wide global launch for the OnePlus 16 is unlikely. For context, the company previously confirmed that it will no longer launch new products in the North American and European markets. A previous leak also suggested that the device would skip India, although the company continues to launch new products there, including the budget-friendly OnePlus N6x.

That said, OnePlus has already teased the OnePlus 16 for the Chinese market at the Snapdragon Gaming Technology Awards show. Now, a new device carrying model number "PYB110" has received SRRC certification in the country. The listing does not disclose the model name, but established tipster Digital Chat Station suggests that it may be the OnePlus 16.

The listing mentions support for 5G with the n79 band, GSM, WCDMA, LTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. No further details were disclosed in the listing. However, previous leaks have shed light on several key details about the phone.

Leaked specifications of the OnePlus 16

The upcoming device is expected to retain the same 6.78-inch display size as the OnePlus 15 but offer a higher 185Hz refresh rate. It may also pack a large battery capacity of around 9,000mAh (25K Anker powerbank curr. $104.99 on Amazon).

The smartphone is rumored to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, which is expected to be based on a 2nm process and support the LPDDR6 RAM standard. It may feature a 200MP main camera, replacing the 50MP main camera found on the OnePlus 15. However, the phone may still use 50MP ultrawide and telephoto cameras.

The device could also see a notable price increase. A previous leak points to a CNY 5,499 (~$815) price tag for the 12GB/256GB variant. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 15 with the same configuration currently sells for CNY 5,099 (~$755) in China. The leak suggests that the phone may also be offered in an 8GB RAM variant.
