OnePlus 16 pricing tipped alongside return of 8GB RAM variant

During the Snapdragon Gaming Technology Awards show in China, OnePlus officially teased the OnePlus 16 as its next flagship smartphone. Details about the smartphone, including its specifications and exact launch date, are still scarce. However, a new leak from @OnePlusClub on X has outlined alleged pricing for the OnePlus 16 in China.

Leaked pricing and memory configurations

According to the source, the upcoming phone will come in an 8GB/256GB base variant priced at CNY 4,999 (~$740). For context, the OnePlus 11, which launched in 2023, was the last flagship from the brand available with an 8GB RAM option. Meanwhile, the current-generation OnePlus 15 starts with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and is currently sold in China for CNY 5,099 (~$755).

The source mentions three more memory configurations for the OnePlus 16: 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, and 16GB/1TB. They are said to be priced at CNY 5,499 (~$815), CNY 5,999 (~$888), and CNY 7,499 (~$1,110), respectively. The 16GB/1TB configuration will reportedly be released as a limited edition. The source also claims that the OnePlus 16 will not have a 24GB RAM variant. Since this information is based on a leak, take it with a grain of salt.

Leaked highlights and uncertain global availability

As for specifications, previous leaks point to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, reportedly manufactured on a 2nm process. The phone may sport a 6.78-inch flat OLED display with a "1.5K" resolution and a refresh rate of up to 185Hz. It may also feature a battery capacity of around 9,000mAh.

The rear camera system is expected to include a 200MP primary camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom.

That said, the phone is unlikely to receive a wide global release, as OnePlus has confirmed that it will no longer launch new products in North America or Europe. OnePlus remains active in India, where it recently launched the budget-friendly OnePlus N6x. However, a recent leak suggests the OnePlus 16 may not launch in India either.
