It is well known that Samsung doesn't develop its Galaxy flagships as radically as Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo do with their increasingly popular smartphones. Four years of the same camera sensor or the same battery across five smartphone generations are nothing unusual for Samsung, and unfortunately, this is now evident once again in one of the first certifications of the Galaxy S26 series in China.
Contrary to several leaks in the past, none of the Galaxy S26 models have been certified by the Chinese CQC with more than 45W fast charging, not even the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which was rumored to have 60W fast charging, both according to a very reliable leaker and in One UI code analyses. The latter in particular is usually a fairly credible indicator, but contradicts what is currently stated in the CQC database for the next Samsung Galaxy flagships.
As the screenshot below shows, none of the Galaxy S26 models exceed the charging specifications of the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Edge and Galaxy S25 Ultra:
- Model SM-S9420 (likely to be named Galaxy S26 Pro) will charge at a maximum of 25 watts.
- Model SM-S9470 (possibly named Galaxy S26 Air) will charge at a maximum of 25 watts.
- Model SM-S9480 (the expected Galaxy S26 Ultra) will charge at a maximum of 45 watts.
This certification, of course, only applies to China for now. Then again, it would be highly unusual for Samsung to reserve faster-charging Galaxy S26 variants for Europe or the US.
