We've received the first semi-official confirmation for some recent leaks regarding the successor to the Galaxy S25 Ultra (from $1,024 on Amazon). While Samsung hasn’t commented on the Galaxy S26 series yet, and probably won't for a few more months, first concrete evidence supporting earlier rumors is starting to emerge online.
For instance, the well-known Chinese leaker Ice Universe recently mentioned several Galaxy S26 Ultra features, including a chassis less than 0.31 inches thick, a 5,000mAh battery and 60-watt fast charging. At least the latter is now confirmed by an early firmware. As Erencan Yılmaz shows on X via a screenshot, the code contains hidden references to the 60-watt mark as the likely new fast-charging limit, at least for the next Galaxy Ultra flagship.
Samsung Galaxy S26 to ship with One UI 8.5
The One UI version of the Galaxy S26 series at launch has also been confirmed. Given that One UI 8 is already based on Android 16 and runs on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, the next major version will apparently be One UI 8.5. This has also been confirmed via the aforementioned firmware analysis. As an intermediate step until the Android 17-based One UI 9 launches in the summer of 2026, One UI 8.5 on the Samsung Galaxy S26 will probably focus on new Galaxy AI features and other improvements.
