Samsung could use a Silicon-Carbon battery to increase the capacity in its upcoming Galaxy S26 Edge thin and light smartphone. A new leak hints at 4,400 mAh, a major improvement over the Galaxy S25 Edge.

It is believed that Samsung is planning a major shakeup for its Galaxy S26 series by replacing the Galaxy S26 with a Galaxy S26 Pro. Furthermore, the Galaxy S26 Edge is expected to replace the Plus model, though the Ultra will retain its position in the lineup. With the slimmer and lighter Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung had to sacrifice battery life but if the latest leak is accurate, that may not be the case with the Galaxy S26 Edge, at least partially.

The latest leak comes courtesy of Setsuna Digital over at Weibo (machine translated). The leaker claims that the Galaxy S26 Edge will be backed by a 4,400 mAh battery. This capacity is even higher than the previously anticipated 4,200 mAh, and more notably higher than the Galaxy S25 Edge’s (buy on Amazon) measly 3,900 mAh. It is unclear if Samsung will go the Silicon-Carbon route this time, though that does sound like the direction the company is headed in. The Galaxy S26 Edge is said to be even thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge’s 5.8 mm form factor and squeezing a 4,400 mAh lithium-ion smartphone battery in there would be extremely challenging, if not impossible.

The Galaxy S26 Edge is said to replace the Galaxy S26 Plus for the upcoming generation of Samsung’s flagships. If that wasn’t the case, the Galaxy S26 Plus would come with 4,900 mAh, like the Galaxy S25 Plus (buy on Amazon), or higher. Which means, the rumored Galaxy S26 Edge’s 4,400 mAh would still fall short of the Plus variant’s capacity, though the sleeker form factor would become more justifiable.

It should be noted that these are just rumors at this point and the specs could change down the line. But as it stands now, the Galaxy S26 Edge is shaping up to be a much better proposition as a replacement to the Plus variant. It is also expected to get a better ultrawide camera compared to the Galaxy S25 Edge.
