As we move closer to the launch of the Galaxy S26 family, which is still more than six months away, the leaks are going to get more frequent and more accurate. So far, we have a good idea of what the lineup looks like, the key upgrades that Samsung is planning, and some details regarding companion accessories like the Galaxy Ring 2.
One of the biggest changes that Samsung is expected to make is to discontinue the “Plus” variant in favor of the Galaxy S26 Edge. Now, we have leaked previously that the Galaxy S26 Edge is expected to feature about the same screen size as the Galaxy S25 Edge. This means that the overall length and width of the phone could stay roughly the same. However, leaker UniverseIce claims on X that the Galaxy S26 Edge will be even thinner than the 5.8 mm Galaxy S25 Edge.
The leaker calls the information “confirmed” and further adds that the phone will also have a bigger battery than the Galaxy S25 Edge. Samsung is reportedly achieving this increase in battery capacity by using “new battery material technology”.
When the Galaxy S25 Edge launched with a relatively small 3,900 mAh battery, many users were perplexed why Samsung didn’t use the newest silicon-carbon batteries that boast much higher energy density. For instance, courtesy of the silicon-carbon battery tech, the compact Vivo X200 FE features a 6,500 mAh capacity cell.
So, Samsung might have taken this criticism to heart and is planning to use a new battery tech, possibly silicon-carbon, to improve the battery capacity of the Galaxy S26 Edge.
All in all, the Galaxy S26 Edge is shaping up to be a pretty exciting phone. While leaks are never to be taken as gospel, we certainly hope that Samsung bridges the battery size gap between the Edge and the regular Galaxy S phones.
