Just around the time the Galaxy S25 Edge was released last month, news of a successor expected to launch as the Galaxy S26 Edge surfaced. Now, official confirmation of the phone's existence has appeared and its early sighting lends credence to a rumor about the future of the Galaxy S series.
Evidence of the successor to the Galaxy S25 Edge (curr. available on Amazon for $999.99) has been found in the IMEI database of the GSMA. First reported by SammyPolice, the Galaxy S26 Edge was spotted alongside the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The former has model number 'SM-S947U' indicating this is the model destined for the US while the Galaxy S26 Ultra has the model numbers 'SM-948U' and 'SM948N' for the US and Korea respectively.
There are speculations that the early appearance of the Galaxy S26 Edge reinforces an earlier report that there will be no Galaxy S26 Plus as the Edge model will take its place. However, SammyPolice says the Galaxy S26 Plus and Galaxy S26 models will be listed later.
There's also the question of whether the Galaxy S26 Edge will debut alongside the other models. If it does launch at the beginning of next year, that means the gap between the two Edge models will be about eight months which is quite short for Samsung's Galaxy S series smartphones.
According to the source, the Galaxy S26 series will launch with OneUI 8.5 which means it might not be a big upgrade since it is a '0.5' change. However, details about the new UI remains unknown.
