Samsung is rolling out the stable One UI 8 update, based on Android 16, to the entire Galaxy S23 series, including the FE model. This major system overhaul brings a revamped DeX experience, enhanced security, and smarter productivity tools.

Samsung is already moving to get its newest operating system onto its flagship devices from previous years. The stable version of One UI 8, built on top of Android 16, has officially started rolling out to the entire Galaxy S23 series, including the popular Galaxy S23 FE model.

The deployment began in South Korea, and in the particular case of the Galaxy S23, Samsung is getting ahead of its own timeline. This signals that the global expansion will likely proceed quickly over the coming days and weeks.

For the Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra, One UI 8 has the build number S91xNKSU6EYI7. On the other hand, the firmware is labeled as S711NKSU9DYI5 for the Galaxy S23 FE.

One UI 8 is a major system overhaul, bringing significant enhancements to the user experience.

One UI 8: Key upgrades for your Samsung Galaxy S23

One UI 8 introduces major functionality changes that boost productivity and security. First, the entire DeX experience gets a massive refresh. Based on Android 16's native Desktop Mode, the new DeX gives you a cleaner, more organized interface for working when you connect your phone to an external monitor.

Next, Samsung focused on utility. The Secure Folder now has enhanced security protocols, while Quick Share has been entirely revamped, making file transfers between Galaxy devices smoother and faster than before.

Daily use also gets smarter. The Camera app includes a new gesture for quick controls, making photo capture more efficient. Core apps like Alarms, Calendar, and Reminders all feature improved management tools. Even the Modes and Routines feature gains new actions, giving users more robust options for automating their day.

If you own a Galaxy S23 model, keep an eye on your software settings. You'll likely receive some good news in the coming days. Meanwhile, Samsung is also working on One UI 8.5 to debut alongside the Galaxy S26 series.
